What does the Page count include?

The page count includes all pages. We went with this design because we want to encourage people to read their MiniBooks online.

This means when using Acrobat Reader to view the PDF document you can quickly jump to the page reference in the Table Of Contents. Pressing Control+N in the Acrobat Reader displays the Go To Page dialogue. You can Select Document -> Go To Page from the menus or enter the page number in the navigation area at the bottom of the Acrobat window.

By having the MiniBook page number and the Acrobat Reader page number correspond this makes it much easier for the user to easily find the required page.

When considering a MiniBook purchase, you should reduce the number of pages by around five pages on average to get a realistic count of the useful pages. This is not a hard and fast rule, but simply a guide.

What is your policy on refunds?

Refunds are a really hard issue for us to handle. The product we provide is knowledge. Once knowledge is provided it has been consumed. Generally for this reason we do not provide refunds.

If you feel that you have an issue please write to us an explain why you feel you should receive a refund. Please do this within 24 hours of receiving the document.

We ask that all people treat our site as though no refund is possible. Select wisely and do not purchase if you are not sure.

It takes more time to process a refund. If we have to factor in a percentage for refunds then our prices will increase and everyone suffers. This is the last thing that we would want.

What should I do if the refund is not the same as the original amount on our credit card statement?

We recently started using PayPal to allow people worldwide to purchase items from us. One of our tests was to purchase a $22USD item from Australia.

Our bank statement however showed the following:

16/02/2004 Paypal $28.66AUD including conversion fee of 0.42AUD
16/02/2004 Paypal $27.26CR AUD including conversion for of 0.40AUD

Further checking showed the PayPal amount was the $22USD in both cases so nothing was wrong on the PayPal side.

Speaking to the bank they said it was a conversion rate difference and occurs with the credit card organisation. This was a staggering 5% difference for a transaction that was done within 30 minutes of each other.

The bank handled this by raising a manual adjustment and crediting our account with the $1.40AUD difference.

If you are in this situation then speak to your bank. It is reportedly a common situation.

We think a 5% difference in processing a refund for a purchase within 30 minutes is a serious issue and people should act as quickly as possible to fix these transactions.

There is nothing that we or PayPal can do about this as it is outside of our control. We are simply letting people know.
