SALES / REFERRALS Sales At Online Connections we only sell products to existing clients who use our consulting or development services. You are welcome to become an Online Connections client if you wish to purchase products through us. By limiting our sales to existing clients we can better advise clients on products to best meet their needs, because we already have an insight into their business. We have no alliance to any particular vendor. Our experience has shown that some vendors' products have performed badly over the years. If a vendor has a bad track record we will not supply that vendor's products. On the other hand some vendors' products have consistently performed well. Our experience with vendor's products that perform well can save our clients from making costly purchasing mistakes. One issue which often arises when an organisation performs both consulting and sales, is how to differentiate between chargeable consulting time and free selling advice. We have seen a number of times with other organisations where self interest ends up not being in the clients interest. The following is the approach we use.
We have found the general approach a salesperson will take is to discuss what a product can do, but rarely are they forthcoming with what it can't do, or if there are any problems with the products. Their aim is to make a sale. Our aim is to ensure our clients interests are looked after. Is it really that clear cut? The answer is yes. If clients require advice and guidance to assist them, then we will provide the best advice and guidance we can, and we are not concerned if they purchase elsewhere. In fact, when other suppliers can provide items at a lower price or offer better service, then we have often advised clients to purchase elsewhere. The knowledge we provide often provides peace of mind even when clients purchase elsewhere. Initially we did not intend to sell products. We only started to do so when we found suppliers were letting our clients down with long delays in providing quotes and delivering items. The advantage our clients have by purchasing through us are:
We have on a number of occasions organised loan equipment, test equipment and test samples with assistance from vendors. This would have been much more difficult to achieve without us having direct access to vendors. Online Connections can provide an extensive range of hardware and software from a large range of vendors. We have access to the same distributors in many cases as the largest retailers in Australia. Unlike retailers however we do not buy for stock. We purchase specifically against client needs. That means clients get access to the latest products and prices. The range of items include computers, printers, digital cameras, modems. software and much much more. Existing clients are always welcome to contact us to find out if we can source a product they are looking for. Online Connections is able to supply consumables for most major brands of laser,. inkjet and dot matrix printers. In addition we use a laser cartridge recycling company and are happy to provide their products. Many other companies in the market try to pass off their products as new or have a high failure rate. This supplier backs their product and has a very low failure rate. We recommend all clients perform a black square test on their current recycled consumables. The black square should be as good as if it was done using a new toner. Low quality suppliers will have streaky or uneven black squares. This quality difference shows up particularly when large headings are used. Why pay for lower quality when there is no need to!
